Programme

A comprehensive and stimulating programme addressing the key issues and challenges faced by the solar thermal sector has been developed by the ESTEC 2011 Programme Committee consisting of international leading experts in the field of solar thermal heating and cooling.

Solar thermal is now a well-established and trusted technology which is gaining ground in emerging markets thus ensuring the sector’s continued growth. The solar thermal potential has also been recognized by HVAC manufacturers as they are increasingly incorporating solar thermal systems into their product ranges.

A stable policy framework is essential to enable solar thermal to increase its share of the energy mix and thus ensure long term security of energy supplies.

Quality assurance is also crucial to the industry sustained growth; it is therefore imperative to offer comprehensive training sessions to installers to maintain a positive public image of the industry.

Innovations foster a dynamic business environment where R&D can play a vital role. In this connection, a strategy for increasing the use of renewable energy technologies in heating and cooling is developed by the European Technology Platform on Renewable Heating & Cooling (RHC-Platform).

The conference being held in Marseille, it will focus on the emerging markets in southern Europe, northern Africa and the Middle East. In 2011, for the first time, an entire session will be wholly dedicated to installers, mainstay of the European solar thermal sector and its success.
